Personality:
First lieutenant Jazz is one happy-go-lucky Autobot. Good-natured and always able to take things in stride, he provides a decent contrast to the more serious demeanor of Ironhide or Prime himself. He's also a talker, something Ironhide and Prime like to tease him about. He might be the smallest Autobot but he's by no means a coward, willing to take on any foe, big or small.
History:
Even before the war, Jazz found himself at home as one of Optimus Prime's Elite. He was there when it all started, way back when Megatron and Optimus were equals; brothers. Jazz was proud to stand by them both, working in the political realm to ensure that they were protected from any outsiders that wished them harm. He was small but he handled himself superbly, and he quickly rose to the rank of lieutenant.
When Megatron betrayed them all, Jazz's alliance never wavered from his Prime, and not only was he there to protect and serve, he was there as a friend. He watched Cybertron fall, unable to do anything but his best, but even that wasn't enough to save his home planet from its own destruction.
When Optimus cast the Allspark out into the universe, Megatron had followed soon after. Jazz was always there, in the background of it all, and it was then that Optimus asked him to join him aboard the Ark, along with his other most trusted Autobots.

Mission City hadn't gone as planned, although there had been very little effective planning in the first place. He aided in the attack against Brawl to keep his attention from the humans, kicking off one of his missile launchers before he was thrown into a nearby building. After Brawl was finally put down, Megatron appeared on the scene, and in order to help stall, and keep the humans safe, he took on the Decepticon leader alone despite Ratchet's call for a retreat. He quickly found himself at a tactical disadvantage, hanging from Megatron's claws on the top of a building. He fought valiantly to the very end, but the rest is left to history as Megatron tore him in half and cast his still-sparking body aside.
Now resurrected by the Allspark itself, and fully repaired by Ratchet, his second chance at life is just beginning, and he's not about to waste it.
Weapons:
Crescent Cannon: A plasma cannon formed on his right arm that elongates at the tip into a crescent shaped shield. Bright blue, high-energy plasma can eat through light to medium armor, and with multiple shots can do some damage to heavy. The plasma itself is mildly corrosive, and as such the shield prevents any backlash onto his own frame. The shield itself is stronger than his armor, preventing any corrosion with a plasma-repellent alloy. This also shields him from enemy fire to a certain extent, but heavy fire will get through pretty quickly, forcing him into evasive maneuvers. He can fire five to six shots in quick succession before the cannon overheats, and it takes about two minutes to be able to fire one shot, and another thirty seconds for every round thereafter until it's completely cooled.
Telescoping Sword: (seen from his toy) When his cannon isn't on his other arm, he has an elongating sword for close-quarters combat. Max length is four feet, but he doesn't use it very often, as he considers it a last resort if he's in a tight spot. Light to medium damage, unless he gets all his power behind a swing, and then there could be trouble for the one on the other end.
Hands: His four-fingered claws are a weapon in and of themselves. Not only does he have magnetic capabilities in both of his hands, allowing for short-range collection of anything metal, the position of his fingers in the star shape allows for an almost impenetrable grip. This allows him to both rip light to medium armor clean off (only if provoked) as well as scale any big guns that might show their back to him, and keep a steady grip so he won't fall. The insides of his arms, however, are vulnerable and have little armor, and if someone decided to grab on, he would be forced to let go to prevent his wrists from ripping apart. Light medium to medium damage.
Armor level: Medium to light armor, except in his hands, feet and chest. His armor is light but decently strong, allowing him to move quickly and effectively. Because of his size, his speed and agility aide him in the best ways possible, and his previous acrobatics clearly show he is a formidable fighter in close-combat battles. Certainly Brawl agrees, as he dearly misses the missile launcher on his shoulder, which Jazz kick-boxed off his frame.
Side notes: As he has been under Prime's command since before the war, he has learned a thing or twelve about close-combat fighting. Jazz may not be quite as attuned to the art of fighting as Sideswipe, but he is still a formidable warrior. He may be smaller than Optimus, but sometimes his size is his advantage, as most 'Cons seem to take him too lightly before they even realize they've made a reaaally bad mistake.
